Seas0nPass 0.8.2 - Signature Magic

Today we are happy to release a new version of Seas0nPass that simplifies the installation of older firmware versions. This process called 'stitching' allows Seas0nPass to utilize previously saved firmware signatures to jailbreak and restore an Apple TV version that Apple may no longer be signing.
What are signatures? Why do I need them?
Firmware signatures are required to install a particular firmware version onto iOS devices like the Apple TV. When installing the latest version, these signatures will be created in real-time during the iTunes restore process.
However, from time to time some firmware versions will stop being 'signed' by Apple, which will prevent them from being installed. Backing up your firmware signatures allows you to retain the ability to install an older firmware version in the future, should the need ever arise.
Firmware signatures are unique to each Apple TV and firmware version.
How do I backup my firmware signatures?
Details on backing up firmware signatures using TinyUmbrella or aTV Flash (black) can be found here.
How do I use Seas0nPass to install an older version?
If you have used TinyUmbrella or aTV Flash (black) to previously save your Apple TV's firmware signatures you can use Seas0nPass to downgrade to an older version by following the steps below.
- Connect Apple TV via USB
- Launch Seas0nPass
- Right-click the 'Create IPSW' button and select your desired version.
- Seas0nPass will handle fetching saved signatures and restoring the firmware automatically.

Seas0nPass is telling me that my Apple TV is not eligible. What does that mean?
If you're receiving a 'not eligible' message, this means Apple is no longer signing that particular version, and Seas0nPass was unable to locate any saved signatures for that device/firmware combination.
How do I get it?
As always, Seas0nPass is available as a free download from Seas0nPass.com.
Troubleshooting tips can be found here.
Enjoy :-)

Hi, having an issue running SeasOnPass 5.0.2 on ATV2 with current 4.4.4 JB. Durring the Custom IPSW creation, it fails on "Downloading firmware signatures". Error message is as follows: "SeasOnPass has detected critical error(s) and cannot continue. Please ensure no conflicting sotware is running and try again"
I have my shsh saved via TinyUmbrella for all firmwares. Has anyone see this and can assist? What I'm I doing wrong? Appreciate all the help. Thanks!

Ok. I got passed it. I did a clean install of itunes (latest version), tinyumbrella and seasonpass on a PC that never had those installed before. Copied all my shsh from original PC and ran once more, just in case.
Next, I launched seasonpass and right away it started to download atv2 5.0.2 firmware. Did not even ask me to plug the atv2 in. My other PC asked to have it connected. When it finished the download, it started to work on creating a custom firmware. It got passed the part where it was failing before and completed the creation of custom firmware successfully. Now, I got prompted to connect atv2 and put it to DFU mode. Once in DFU mode, seasoanpass continued its script and opened iTunes to do a restore, but quickly hung/stuck on location newly created ipsw file. For some reason it was looking for it one folder up (in parent folder). So, restarted the whole seasonpass script from beginning. After it completed a new ipsw and before I connected atv2 in DFU mode, I copied the ipsw one folder up. Now, all was good. iTunes picked it up and proceeded with a restore with a custom firmware. But, all the way towards the end I got an error message 1604. I restored atv2 to legit 5.0.2 firmware, then ran seasonpass once more. Bingo!!! No errors and atv2 jailbroken!!!
Sorry for the lengthy write up, but I hope this will help some of you. Good luck!

I am having the same exact issue. I imagine it has something to do with the Firecore program not working properly. I am testing it out on another machine shortly and will let you know if I have the same error message

Same here, tried it on two different machines and it is not working.

Im having the same problem with the latest seasOnPass. I've tried every option and keep getting 'This AppleTV is not eligible for this version'. I can't even get a tethered boot done to at least get back to my last known good state (tethered 4.4.4 atv black).
Has anybody solved this, or is there any news on when it's going to get fixed. aTV is looking pretty broken right now.

I'm running OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion as my primary OS (yes, it's THAT stable!) and besides 1080p on the 3rd gen Apple TV, which is HUGE for anyone with a projector vs. an HDTV, there is another new feature that I can't wait to try out: AirPlay mirroring from any Mac to Apple TV! :D
Right now, I accomplish this via a miniDisplayport-to-HDMI adapter and it works flawlessly with Thunderbolt! But wirelessly? This will be super SWEET!

I could really use some advice. I have a new (out of box yesterday) Apple TV 2, that I bought to jailbreak, with 4.3. I already have one on 4.4.4- with the latest TV Flash. Awesome. Well, I can't figure out how to jailbreak it- neither an older version of SeasonPass, nor the new one will work. I did connect to iTunes but didn't think I could save anything there without them updating me.. I did use iFaith, and have 'signed' blobs. I've used iReb, tried shift/restore with iTunes, SeasonPass- nothing will work, even when pointing to 4.3 or (even tried 4.4.4)?? Using new SeasonPass will not accept any. Tiny Umbrella 'see it' unless I manually enter the number- which I have, but then it doesn't (nor should it because it's new I guess) have saved SHSH in Cydia- and won't save new ones, saying "You're just too late"- lol (not that funny!) over and over..I guess you could say I've exhausted every angle...but I'm sure hoping someone here will have some advice. I would be SO grateful! :) Thank you in advance!

After doing some recent updates from within AppleTV via my flat screen TV screen as I have normally done for the past year or so, I rebooted my device and now it wont start up again.. Left it sitting with Apple Logo on my screen for hours but nothing. Ive tried using Pwnage tool to get a custom restore on it but it keeps failing. I have some of my blobs saved thru Tinyumbrella, so I decided to use SeasonPass and its signature function in an attempt to get any firmware on it, other than the latest iOS5 which itunes is trying to make me instal.... A few firmwares got the 'not eligible' sorry window but one of them worked 4.1 and SeasonPass seemed to do its thing and itunes restore started but then it fails and itunes says my device is not eligible. WTF!!! Please help.

I've tried using this method and more, and still cannot downgrade with 4.4.4 blobs on hand. Check this thread...

This is so fantastic! Thanks so much. I've been dutifully using TinyUmbrella with both my AppleTVs ... with precisely this hope in mind. Good to know I can always safely revert to my favorite firmware version 4.3 (8F455) -- as that's the last one that works perfectly with this great AirPlay extension for desktop Safari: http://www.macstories.net/reviews/clicktoplugin-brings-airplay-support-t...

Can Seasonpass's backup functionality tell my 2 apple tv's apart? I have 2 jailbroken ATV2's,one in the kitchen and one in the living room
Feb 21, 2012 12:58 pm
Yes, each AppleTV has a unique identifying number which is used to locate saved signatures.
