Hot on the heels of the new Seas0nPass release we're happy to present to you a brand new version of aTV Flash (black). Version 1.6 adds a bunch of great new features including integrated subtitle downloads, expanded codec support, refined video playback, improved networking, additional translations and a truckload of other improvements and bug fixes.
Integrated Subtitle Downloads
By popular request we've added one-click subtitle downloads, courtesy of OpenSubtitles.org. Now instead of spending hours searching for the right subtitles they can be easily downloaded right from your Apple TV in a matter of seconds. Check out the screenshots below to see this feature in action.

If you're already running a version of aTV Flash (black) the new 1.6 version can be installed through the Maintenance --> Manage Extras menu. Links for the new version can also be found in your account under the Downloads tab.

hei guys
i have bought my apple Tv2 quite sometime ago and I do not get full benefits of the usage except i use it to go on utube and Facebook otherwise it is pretty useless. Can anyone help me what more can i use the apple tv like which website that i stream to watch movies for free. I do not mind older movies at least it is free.

Hey Firecore. How's that jailbreak coming along? I think it's about time you clarify what "in the works" is in reality... that there currently is no ATV3 jailbreak and you that you can't speculate on the timeline! Stop taking people's money base on vaporware - or at least be brutally honest about it.

#ATV3 Apple removed all extra memory and left only enough to run the OS on the #ATV3. So most lightly no jailbreak will come.. Sigh

Come on guys let the people at Firecore get on with trying to jailbreak the apple tv 3, these things do take time.
I bet when they get it broken then it will be great just like the rest of there software as I'm running both silver and black aTV flash.

Why do people buy lifetime licences for devices with no known jailbreak? Hang on to your money until the jailbreak arrives (which I doubt will be any time soon, if ever, judging by what i've read on various forums)
Either that, or sell the doorstop that is aTV3 and get a fully jailbroken, and fully customizable aTV2 (better be prepared to pay a few quid aswell though, cause the aTV2 at the minute are fetching quite ridiculous amounts!)

Please figure out a different naming convention, because seeing "(black)" over and over is awful. This gets moved to top of the priority list, even above ATV3 support.

i can't get home sharing to work? i have updated to black 1.7 but still nothing. I have home sharing turned on in the apple tv and on iTunes but nothing comes up when i enter "computer"

While XBMC has DLNA support and plays music and videos with the PlayTo app from my Nokia Lumia 900, does atv2 with fire core have DLNA support? It does not show up under devices unless I get into XBMC. Future update?

Getting an "unable to locate matching subtitles. Please reload metadata and try again." error every time I hit Get More ... for any video file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I love atv flash, it works great and greatly enhances the apple tv experience. The issue is previously I had an iOmega iconnect as NAS with hard disks attached and media player used to detect it automatically, but now I have purchased an airport extreme and my media player is not detecting a Freecom hard disk connected to the airport extreme. Even if I try to add it manually by choosing AFP, xtreme ( name of the airport extreme) as name, xtreme.local as server name and guest as username and password blank, it it not connecting. If I choose SMB, with same name and server and username with workgroup mas workgroup, it connects but shows no playable media files. Could you please guide me how to resolve the issue.

Hello all,
Well I am Brazilian and foremost congratulations on the excellent work with ATV Flash black.
I do not know if you have any relationship or if it is already known in the community. But after I did the upgrade to version 1.6 and 5.01 can not hit the accentuation of subtitles. Use from previous versions and always worked fine but now I can no longer use the UTF-8 that would be correct for the subtitles in Portuguese. Does anyone know anything about this? There is how to fix?

Tenta trocar o encode para o Latin 9 no Apple TV. Funciona pra mim em muitos casos. (Try to change the encoder to Latin 9 on the Apple TV. It works to me in many cases)

Hi Guys,
I have had a great time with this software on my ATV2 but have recently discovered an issue which is spoiling some of the fun!
I can't ssh into my atv2. I am running the latest atvflash (black) showing in maintenance extras as 1.6-1 and atv software 5.0.2(4250). I have double checked all the settings/passwords etc in cyberduck - which have all worked without fault before. Now I just get "premature connection close". I have reset the atv and also checked the current address I am using is correct.
Please advise or update the software to correct this annoying issue.

(I just want to make some small script adjustments to an add-on in xbmc which isn't streaming properly. The fix worked on my PC so should work on the atv - if I can get in!)

After the media player update, some of my avi files do no longer output sound through the atv2. Just video. Anybody noticed this?

I've had the same problem for some time. I've exchanged several support emails with fireCore on the topic. The ATV Media Player plays no sound for some of my .WMV files. Interestingly, I recently discovered that the same is true of the new QuickTime player on Lion; however the good ol' QuickTime Player 7 still plays the audio just fine. Ultimately the playback quality, difficulty to fast forward/reverse, and pain in the rear of dealing with these files motivated me to just convert them to Quicktime. I've found the Jaksta Video Converter program, recently on sale on a MacUpdate Promo Bundle does a fast and excellent job of converting these and retaining the sound.

I still have a couple of instances of movies that are 1 movie, but the file is split into two parts. Is there any support for this? Like say a naming convention where the movie title is the same between files, but there is a standard suffix (like movie name Part 1, movie name Part 2) or perhaps the folder gets the movie name and the files inside are simply named part 1 and part 2. Thoughts?
Alternatively, it could simply be that folders get a 'watched/unwatched' toggle but that might cause havoc with TV.

This should work. For example. Folder name: Men in black 3, and in that folder yo have the two files named
Men in black 3 cd1.avi
Men in black 3 cd2.avi
Try that and se if it works.

Yes they are! I have xbmc with a subtitle addon. It lets you pick the subtitle language and usually matches up with most of the movies.

i have the 1.6 and i cant access my media.
It finds my computer automatic
dot at the end ...check. did not fix it
Short name for my server mac.local ....check did not fix it.
AFP user/password still bugging me and in file sharing on my mac i don´t use user or password.
I have gone trough the forums, youtube, google and now i am LOST !!!

You may check to ensure File Sharing is enabled on your Mac.

While you may not have a password setup, you should have a username. Usually this will just be your full name - E.G. Joe Smith.

I am not able to log into my account because firecore doesnt recognize it. I want to upgrade my firecore unlimited upgrade account and i cant . i also want to purchase MiRow and i cant. please i am not going to setup another account. i want back my account with my original email address. could you please allow to skip to the next item in a video playlist by keeping pressed the right arrow on the remote? I think it would be very useful to have the possibility to move backward/forward in a playlist.

Firecore are not the people that do the jailbreaks, but to answer your question, no there is no jailbreak for the atv3 yet.
